Binge-Eating

Binge-eating disorder is engaging in recurrent binge eating during which an abnormally large amount of food over a short time is consumed. Patients with binge-eating disorders do not compensate in any way after a binge episode, (such as vomiting). However, the bing-eating purging type is also another disorder and with this disorder, the individual does compensate by vomiting part or all of the food consumed.

Do you have recurrent episodes in which you consume food and are unable to stop yourself, even after feeling uncomfortably full? Do you eat despite not being hungry, or eat in private because of feeling guilty about being judged over your eating habits? Let me reassure you that you are not alone. According to Sadock & Sadock, 2022, Binge-eating disorder is the most common eating disorder and the least gender-divided of the three. In the United States, the lifetime prevalence of binge-eating disorder is about 3.6 percent for women and 2.1 percent for men.
